Is Winthrop University closing?
This profile does not establish that the college is closing. 2 different categories of public evidence currently meet the tracker’s display rules. This calls for closer review, not a prediction that the college will close.
Thirty-nine remaining facilities employees were told their Winthrop positions were expected to be eliminated as grounds, custodial, skilled-trades, and maintenance work moved to an outside contractor; the contractor was required to interview affected workers. Evidence: Official institutional announcement.
A material decline can increase tuition pressure but does not establish distress.
